Fifteen years old, and she wins Wimbledon. 1887. Nobody younger has done it since, and that's coming up on 140 years of somebody else trying. Five titles total, and then she just... stopped. Went and won the British Ladies golf championship, took a silver in archery at the 1908 Games, played hockey for England. Same person!
Okay, so here's who I'm pulling for. Blanche Bingley Hillyard. Kept walking out onto that grass and finding Lottie Dod on the other side of it — 1888, then again in '91, '92, '93. Four times a runner-up to the same woman. And Blanche still ended up with six Wimbledons of her own, won in the years Dod wasn't there. You don't quit against that. You just wait for a summer she's off playing golf.
The off-seasons were busy too, Toby. She climbed in Norway and the Alps, skating in between, and by the Alps in the 1890s women were still doing it in long skirts with hired local guides doing the step-cutting ahead of them. Then the archery silver in 1908, with her brother William shooting in the men's event the same week. Same person, yes.
